Medical Eye Care and Routine Examinations

Summit Eye Associates is a medical practice that focuses on medical eye care. This encompasses eye problems that go beyond glasses or contacts. The most common problems are Cataracts, Dry Eye Disease, Diabetic Retinopathy, Glaucoma and Macular Degeneration. Medical insurance covers eye exams for these problems just like any other medical specialist.

If you need glasses or contact lenses, we provide routine eye care as well. Vision insurance covers this type of eye care and we have a team ready to assist your entire family with the care you deserve.

Let our team provide you and your family with the best care possible.

MEDICAL EXAMS

Your exam will start with pre-testing performed by our certified ophthalmic technicians, followed by the examination by your doctor.  Plan on a dilated eye exam yearly, and please arrange for a driver if you have a history of difficulty following dilation.

Your doctor will carefully examine your eyes and provide you with information regarding their findings.  During a comprehensive yearly visit, a refraction is typically performed in order to measure your best vision from which service you receive a new glasses prescription.

We specialize in:

Advanced Technology Cataract Surgery

The no-stitch way to restore vision clouded by cataracts.  We offer the most cutting edge technology including laser assisted cataract surgery utilizing all of the latest IOL technologies, including treatment for reducing Astigmatism and Presbyopia with the most advanced lens implants available to restore vision to its fullest.  Our skilled surgeons will help guide you to your best vision possible.

Glaucoma Management

Expert medical care and management is the key to this “silent disease” that can cause blindness if untreated.  Comprehensive eye examinations are essential for early detection and ongoing management is critical to control this progressive disease.  Our doctors and surgeons have years of training and decades of expertise treating this disease with medications, laser treatments and Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgery (MIGS).

Diabetic Eye Care

Diabetic retinopathy is the leading cause for irreparable blindness.  Anyone with Diabetes is at risk for this complication and early to moderate retinopathy does not have any symptoms.  Primary care physicians and Eye Care Professionals both agree that yearly dilated retinal exams are highly recommended.  Trust our experienced team here at Summit Eye to properly examine and evaluate your eyes every year.

ROUTINE VISION EXAMS

Your vision exam starts with pre-testing performed by our Ophthalmic technicians, followed by an examination by the doctor.  We will discuss your test results and screen for any medical problems.  At the end of your visit, you will receive your new glasses prescription. Please let the appointment staff know if you wear contact lenses as a lens fitting needs to be scheduled as part of your exam to provide your contact lens prescription.

These routine vision exams are covered by vision insurance not usually medical insurance. Should there be any medical issues found during the screening exam, a more complete medical exam will be scheduled.

Wellness Screening OCT

To provide you with the most advanced eye care, we proudly offer a wellness screening that uses advanced high-definition imaging.  The Wellness Screening Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) is a fast and simple picture that will help us detect many different eye diseases in the earliest phases.

Many eye problems can develop without warning and progress without symptoms.  With early disease, you may not notice any vision changes.  However, common conditions such as Macular Degeneration, Glaucoma, and Diabetic Retinopathy can be detected earlier with OCT than exam alone since these images provide more detail than the examination.

Ask for your Wellness Screening OCT at your next regular visit!
